Ada Ingrid Engebrigtsen

Ada Ingrid Engebrigtsen er sosialantropolog og jobber med tema migrasjon og transnasjonalitet på NOVA, Norsk institutt for forskning om oppvekst, velferd og aldring. NOVA er et sosialforskningsinstitutt og og forsker på et bredt spekter av tema innen migrasjon og transnasjonalitet, konsentrert omkring interetniske relasjoner mellom ungdom, familier og eldre, i nabolag og i offentlige institusjoner. Instituttet arbeider også med spørsmål omkring diskriminering og likeverdig tjensteyting. Ada Engebrigtsen har arbeidet med minoritets- og migrasjonsspørsmål siden 80-tallet og har vært spesielt interessert i relasjoner mellom somaliske flyktinger og rombefolkninger og deres relasjoner til majoritetsbefolkninger i Norge og i Europa.

Ada I.Engebrigtsen is research professor of Social Anthropology at Norwegian Social Research NOVA. Her research has consentrated on interethnic relations,  transnationality and adaptation processes among mobile populations. Her PhD thesis concerned the exchange relationships between  a group of settled Roma and the majority populations they lived among in a village in Transylvania. She has also worked with issues concerning the Somali population in Norway and with refugee issues, more specifically unaccompanied minors. She is currently working in a research section that focus on childhood, family and child wellfare.

 She is engaged in two research projects: Network on the anthropology of mobilities NAM, of wich she is project manager. The aim of project is to develop research and analysis of mobility studies in Norway  in cooperation with the university of Oslo and Trondheim. The other project is Neighbourhoods at risk.Residential mobility and neighbourhood tipping. Both projects funded by the NOrwegian Research Council.
