TRAVEL INFORMATION - HOW TO REACH LILLEHAMMER
Lillehammer is located 134 km north of Oslo Airport Gardermoen and 176 km from Oslo Central Station. For delegates arriving Norway at Oslo International Airport Gardermoen, the best way to travel is by train. The cost for the round trip is approx. NOK 600,- and tickets may be purchased on the train using a credit card/charge card. Estimated time is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes by train. The train leaves from the airport approximately every hour. Prices for one way tickets are NOK 227,- from the airport to Lillehammer.
Lillehammer can be reached by daily train from Oslo Central Station almost every hour - duration: 2 hrs 20 min.
 
You can order your train ticket by visiting: Norwegian railways (NSB) or buy tickets on the train station.


For those of you who fly Ryanair to Oslo Torp Airport (110 km southwest of Oslo), there are busses going to Oslo Buss Terminal. From there, it is a short walk to Oslo Central Station to catch a train to Lillehammer - duration 2 hrs 20 min.

The first day of the conference will be held at Maihaugen museum, which is one of the largest open air museums in Norway. The second and third day of the conference will be held at Lillehammer University College (Storhove/HiL), outside Lillehammer centre.

HOW TO REACH MAIHAUGEN

The museum is located on the outskirts of Lillehammer centre (1.8 kilometres from the bus station). You can reach Maihaugen museum on foot, by bus or by car.

 

On foot:
From the train/bus station, walk up Jernbarnegata. Turn right on to Anders Sandvigs gate and follow this one block south. Then turn left, and follow Bankgata to Maihaugveien. Follow Maihaugveien south until you reach the main entrance to the museum (Maihaugveien 1). NB! Be aware that the walk up to Maihaugen is pretty steep.

 

By bus:
You may take the citybus number 6 (marked Skysstasjonen-Nybu) from the bus station to Maihaugen. The bus leaves the bus station approximately every hour (23 minutes past every hour)

 

By car:
Exit to Lillehammer centre from E6, and drive towards the city centre through the tunnel. Then take a right turn by the traffic lights and follow the signs towards Maihaugen museum. Registration, Opening ceremony and the Plenary sessions are all held in the auditorium Maihaugsalen located in the main building. Enter Maihaugen museum through the main entrance.

 

 

REGISTRATION DESK

Friday 13th June 10:00-13:30, Maihaugen Conference Lounge.

 

Upon registration, you will receive a personal envelope containing a name badge and coupons to pre-booked meals and social events. You will also receive the Final Program and other meeting materials. Please wear your name badge to all sessions and social events and remember to bring along the coupons to the lunches and dinner.

 

Coffee/tea during breaks (as indicated in the programme), are included in the registration fee. Lunch at Lillehammer University College 14th and 15th June, are also included if you indicated this on the registration form. Lunch at Maihaugen is only for those who has pre-registered and paid for this in advance.

 

There will also be an information desk set up at Lillehammer University College.

LUNCH AT MAIHAUGEN

Lunch at Maihaugen museum is optional, but to participart you need to sign up in the registration form. This will cost you NOK 150,-.

We also encourage you to sign up for the lunches at Lillehammer University College in the registration form saturday and sunday, to make it easier for us to estimate the catering needed. Lunches at Lillehammer University College are included in the registration fee.

 

 

SOCIAL EVENTS

Friday June 13th after the official programme we have arranged for a guided tour of Maihaugen museum. This is optional and requires signing up for in the registration form and will cost you NOK 100,-. The tour is estimated to one hour and will start at 17.30.

In the evening we have arranged for an informal meeting for participants at Café Banken, which is the venue for the conference dinner saturday evening.

 

 

CONFERENCE DINNER
Saturday evening we have arranged dinner at Café Banken. This is optional and requires signing up for in the registration form and will cost you NOK 400,-. 

 

For those who have pre-registered for the dinner, please bring along your coupons to be presented at the entrance of the restaurant. Drinks are not included. All drinks to be ordered and paid for individually. Address: Kirkegt. 41
 


LANGUAGE
English is the official language of the conference.

 


CLIMATE
June in Lillehammer is mild with average temperature of 16 degrees.
It may be cool in the evening so a light coat or jacket is needed, rain is a possibility. 
 
 
CLOTHING

Informal for all occasions.
 
 
WIRELESS INTERNET
There are wireless internet areas at Maihaugen and Lillehammer University.
 
 
CURRENCY / EXCHANGE
The official currency in Norway is NOK, Norwegian Krone.
Banking hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 - 15:30. Weekends closed.
Automated cash dispensers are to be find several places at the airport and in Lillehammer.
Foreign currency may be changed at banks, hotels, airports and in exchange offices.
All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.

The organizers are not able to take any responsibility for any injury or damage involving persons and property during the meeting. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.
